I have been watching Meet the Press with David Gregory, and am troubled by something Gregory asserted in his interview with Fort Lee, NJ mayor Mark Sokolich. He asked the mayor to comment on the fact that Governor Christie's people were, in fact, trying to find out what really happened with the GW Bridge fiasco, by introducing an email that he claimed was written by Bill Baroni to Regina Egea and quoted, "I will get to the bottom of this abusive decision which violated everything this agency stands for." The graphics on the screen showed a copy of the "To" and "From" portion of the email, which was as he asserted. But he then simply put the disembodied quote up on the screen, without showing the actual e-mail.
I am not a journalist but I have been following this story avidly. I would think anyone who claims to be a real journalist as Gregory does, and who is interviewing someone directly connected to the story, would be well-enough versed in the background material to know that the particular email Gregory was referring to was originally sent to Baroni, as well as others overseeing the Port Authority, by Executive Director of the PA Pat Foy, and that Baroni was simply forwarding the email to Egea for her information.
To Mayor Sokolich's credit, he immediately corrected Gregory and went on with his answer. Gregory said nothing and continued his show. My reaction was "WTF?" Maybe he was truly confused, in which case he is as bad a journalist as we think, or he was deliberately misleading his viewers, in which case he is an even worse journalist than we thought. In any event, he has sunk to Fox News lows in his desire to manipulate the facts.

(296,834 posts)David Gregory corporate propaganda dumba$$ strikes again. Christie's people weren't trying to find out what happened.. they caused it. They were trying to blame it on the Mayor. Just like Gregory is trying to cover for the Christie Bullies.

(51,512 posts)It had nothing to do with them wanting to "investigate" Bridgegate. Gregory really exposed himself. He should apologize and resign.
Even Christie didn't try to come up with that outrageously false defense. Guess they have Gregory to do it for them.

BTW - Gregory was attacked on Twitter and FB by Michelle Malkin and her minions for a tweet of his earlier in the week. Looks like the bullying worked .... Or the MSM had to keep Christie alive for some drama against Hillary

Christie is everything the right built themselves to be - a d!<k. Tough on crime tight on money (supposedly) but they created their own drama with the tea baggers and even Fox wasn't sure how to spin Bridge-ghazi for a couple of days. They probably had Luntz focus group this nonstop until they settled on their flat story.

(3,179 posts)How much longer will he be allowed to disgrace and blacken the concept of journalism. He should be catapulted to the Fox sludge pool where his talents can really shine.

(405 posts)This weekend, talk about a lot of stuff out there, this weekend more e-mails have come to light. And I want to show one in just a second here that's a key one. It is from a Port Authority official, a Christie appointee, to one of Governor Christie's top advisor's for all of the authorities, Port Authority, other authorities, within the state. And it's about the lane closures.
And he is saying, "I will get to the bottom of this abusive decision, which violates everything this agency stands for." This is a Port Authority official who is making it very clear that he thinks this was an abusive decision. And that conclusion, as the lanes are reopened back in September of last year, is getting to top Christie advisor's. So my question to you: Do you think he knew then that he knew more than he was saying just a couple of days ago that he knew?
The email was from Patrick Foy who is NOT a Christie appointee, as David Gregory asserts. The email was forwarded by Baroni who was Christie appointee.
