3. Good question. I've looked briefly and found that (no surprise here) Kindle/Amazon use

a proprietary, encrypted format that one would have to hack and them convert. Of course, this is counter to corporate dictates and could be more trouble than it's worth.

4. If you go to amazon and sign up for the cloud reader,....

you can download it to your cloud. I have an app in Chrome on my computer to read it on the computer. I also downloaded the Kindle app to my Android tablet so that I can read Kindle books on my tablet. I keep all of the free Kindle books I get in my cloud, then I can read them on whichever device is convenient at the time. I can also move between devices since Kindle apps will sync with the cloud.
