The governor grovelled to New Jersey residents after his aides so gleefully burned them (even joking about children being late for the first day of school because of the orchestrated gridlock on the George Washington Bridge).
After zapping Obama for being so clueless that he couldnt find the light switch of leadership in a dark room, Christie is trying to salvage his once blazing career by claiming he was in a dark room, clueless to the bogus traffic study masking a revenge plan that top aides were executing in plain sight.
Self-pitying apologia
The epic news conference felt like a scene out of the governors favourite movie, The Godfather: Christie offering his tremulous, grandiose, self-pitying public apologia while in cross-cut scenes, his henchmen were getting rid of those who threatened his operation.
Calling his deputy chief of staff Bridget Anne Kelly stupid and deceitful, he threw her off the bridge, without talking to her himself or, as Niall ODowd slyly wrote in IrishCentral.com, even extending the courtesy of the old Irish wedding night admonition: Brace yourself, Bridget.

Edit: I just re-read it and saw the reference to the punch line, I just remember hearing it differently. Still funny though.
I can't wait to see what the week will bring for Gov Thug. I hate the bastard.

(5,141 posts)I love that the article brings up that stupid "light switch of leadership" bs. The only light Christie is going to get now is from lighting his own flatulents.

(267,835 posts)not if the rumors about the also fired Bill Stepien, the former campaign manager are true, but I find David Weinstein's released emails very interesting because they expose Christie.
Christie suggesting that they were not close friends from high school may be Weinstein's perfect moment to destroy the bully.

(5,141 posts)Call me crazy but if my boss went on tv in front of the whole world and called me a liar and an idiot for covering up for him I'd pretty much want to salvage what shred of a reputation I had left.
She's a single mother with 4 kids, I'm sure she needs to work.

(5,141 posts)I think she's being quiet more out of fear and not remuneration. Christie strikes me as a guy who keeps all the swag for himself, and rules through fear of retribution if you cross him, and I think that applies to his enemies and his so-called allies. That's what takes these assholes down; eventually they get caught up in their web of hate and lies and as soon as the people they've scared into cooperation see the slightest bit of vulnerability in their overlord's reign of terror, they scramble for the safety of a plea bargain.
The guy is a malevolent megalomaniac. I wouldn't put anything past this guy.

(2,147 posts)You don't think that her brand new attorney, paid for by ?, prepared her fully for the words delivered in the press conference. She's taking one for the team.
What I'm sure not sure of is how much she is willing to sacrifice when reality kicks in. If she is a single mother, a conviction of any type won't work for her. I'm sure she's being told now that everything will be okay, but the doubt should start to kick in any moment.

(7,759 posts)what the GOP in Congress and the GOP in general is doing to the country....hurting those who voted for their opponents. If only people could understand that this issue is about the character of the parties. Sure, their are some scumbags in the Democrat party but it is not the general character of the Dems to launch policies and actions to hurt masses of people who didn't vote for them. It's about vindictive politics where the tone is set at the top breathed into the lives of supporting voters who don't have a clue. The radio and TV airwaves of full of the vindictiveness and there is little being done about it. It all started the day BEFORE the President was sworn in in 2009. The tone was set, the governors fell into place, the Tea Party sprouted many roots and carried the message forward. To put it simply...the GOP is NOT for America. They are for themselves.

(267,835 posts)What frightens me is the M$Greedia and the public in general do not see how they are destroying the entire fabric on the US.
And all he talked about in the press conference was me me me - over 660 times - not one word for what was done to citizens.
