Live chat at 11 a.m.: Chris Christie and the GWB scandal, the State Police lawsuit, and more
TRENTON It was a week of explosive revelations about the politically-motivated traffic jam on the George Washington Bridge and Gov. Chris Christie's administration's role in causing it and trying to cover it up.
A "humiliated" Christie announced he had ousted both his deputy chief of staff and his lead campaign strategist who he said conspired without his knowledge to close the busy bridge in September -- apparently in retribution for Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich's refusal to endorse the governor.
The emails -- released by an Assembly committee investigating the matter -- not only led to the downfall of Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Anne Kelly and Bill Stepien, one of Christie's closest advisors. They also revealed other top aides were aware of the incident and its threat to Christie's political career, and took steps to keep it under wraps.
And before the week was over, a major in the State Police filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against his boss, Col. Rick Fuentes.
