Those poor people living right next door to that tank farm, must really be scared and pissed off. I'm about four miles away from the latest chemical release this morning. The chemical in the air near those tanks is making more people sick and it looks like the company that owns the site, made the TV people leave this morning, when the odor was really bad and had them come back after the problem was somewhat rectified later in the day. The strange clandestine transferring the licorice smelling chemical from one truck to another? This story gets more crazy by the minute. This story, is far from over.

I agree.. those poor people! I would be out of my mind with worry. I'm so sorry, Hubert, that you have to endure this.

Hope it's something else but we can be fairly certain that we consumed some of the poison before anybody realized what was going on.

I believe your sector has just been declared OK, right?

sentence or two, but when the tea party whackos took over North Carolina they started passing laws at an absurd pace. Many of them are so crazy that they received quite a bit of press, but others were passed without much fanfare. One of those was a law giving the state the right to usurp local authority in placing certain industries or even garbage dumps. No more locals refusing to allow, say a garbage dump in their backyard. In politics the NIMBY (not in my back yard) crowd has successfully fought off many a large corporation by using local legislation. Well, the tea party types have removed that right in North Carolina. Now, when someone wants to open a toxic waste dump where do you think it will go? Hint, in neighborhoods where people don't have the resources to fight off the state and corporations like minority or poor neighborhoods. I'm afraid much more of this is in the works if we don't stop the Republicans, tea party and their corporate overlords.
