While Chris Christies numbers have held firm amidst recent controversies, the New Jersey governor has lost ground in a potential 2016 match-up against prospective Democratic contender Hillary Clinton. The latest NBC News/Marist poll shows Christie trailing Clinton by 13 points in a presidential contest. Thats a ten-point drop: Last month, Christie trailed the former secretary of state by just 3 percentage points in the same poll.
Clinton leads Christie 50 percent to 37 percent in the latest poll. Christie, nonetheless, remains the leading candidate for the Republican nomination in 2016. With 16 percent of the vote, the poll shows him leading Representative Paul Ryan (12 percent), Senator Rand Paul (nine percent), and former Florida governor Jeb Bush (eight percent). Twenty-five percent of respondents said they were undecided.
Nearly 70 percent said their opinion of Christie has not changed since controversy engulfed his administration last week; 44 percent believe he is telling the truth about his own knowledge of the Bridgegate scandal.

(966 posts)...in getting the GOP nomination.
The right-wing has gotten crazy, even since last November.
They are nominating Ted Cruz or Rand Paul, or someone of that cast.

(39,961 posts)a contest between Hillary and Christie would leave about 70% of the voters holding their nose and voting. Christie isn't well-liked by many Republicans because he isn't conservative enough and Hillary isn't well-liked by many Democrats because she's too conservative.
That would be an election race that excites no one.
