Fox’s Keith Ablow: Trans people only exist as part of liberal plot to steal your rights

(Glad to know this, see I was thinking something entirely different, like it's a matter of someone's psyche being trapped in the wrong physical/gender form, but hell, what do I know )

Fox News’ resident psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow declared in a viciously transphobic column for FoxNews.com on Wednesday that he does not believe that transgender people are legitimate, but are actually delusional and in need of treatment.

The nearly 20-paragraph screed was the latest paroxysm of angry outrage from the network about California’s School Success and Opportunity Act (SSOA), which allows transgender students to use restrooms and locker rooms corresponding to their expressed gender rather than their birth gender.

Ablow, who has long had an ax to grind with the LGBT community, said that allowing kids to express their gender rather than dictating it to them is “toxic” and “destructive.”


Like many on the right, Ablow believes that children should be forced to conform to their biological sex, lest gender anarchy erupt and bring about the collapse of all Americans hold dear.

3. So he's an ignorant twit who has uninformed opinions on things outside his sphere of competence

which makes him a perfect fit for Fox News. Psychiatrists and psychologists generally probably aren't qualified to have informed opinions on issues of gender and sexuality anyway; the traditional psychiatric/psychological model treats non-hetero sexualities and gender variance as pathological mental disorders, when research has shown that they're neurological and biological and merely a subset of normal human variation.
