LINCOLN — Nebraska's lowest-paid workers would get a raise under a bill introduced Thursday in the Nebraska Legislature.

State Sen. Jeremy Nordquist of Omaha sponsored the measure, LB 943, to bump the state's minimum wage to $9 an hour, up from $7.25 an hour.

The increase would take place in three steps over the next three years.

But it would not be as high as the proposed federal minimum wage increase being pushed in Congress.
