Seems Romney's campaign people had a bead on Christie's shenanigans and it's why CC wasn't on the ticket. Heileman was on the show and said the concerns the Romney raised turned out to be right on target. The Politico guy, Jim Vandehei, was on laying it all out. Mika said she didn't like the story because it showed how ugly people are...Vandehei said he was loving it. Me, too.
I love it when I wake up to Republicans in trouble first thing in the morning...

(3,871 posts)or your background, you have problems...When CC told the Romney people they could not fundraise in Jersey until CC endorsed him (Romney)..I'm pretty sure that's what he said, the Romney people knew he was trouble. Imagine a guy telling you you cannot come into his State to raise funds until if and when he endorses you...Bwahahaaaaaaa. This is what Joe was so shocked about.

(63,903 posts)narrative about Christie that Joe can't deny, despite his effort a couple of days ago on the show to brush these questions aside. Now it's all back in his face again, just as we said it would, once the full force of the investigation subpoenas started...

(44 posts)Mika, That is your problem you are not a news journalist you are an actress acting as a journalist. Please Mika, go back to the Hampton's and shove your platinum hair under the covers you have nothing of value to bring to any conversation. That said, they all were shocked because no one took the time to check on the things that were going on. They took their lead from other news organizations and reported what they reported. Joe is never going to check on anything derogatory about any GOP candidate because he is GOP fodder. Mika is an entitled rich girl who played in the Washington D.C. suburbs growing up and has never stopped playing miss thang.
Now that everything is out in the open she doesn't like it because it shows how ugly people can be. Well, her father is a ugly human being all by himself but she can't see that because she is too close to the situation. Washington is an ugly place where people are chewed up spit out like chaw. The world of politics is an ugly world full of evil people crawling over one another to get their chance at the gold ring of power.

(86 posts)It was the same kind of payback we all now realize Christie and gang operate on. That convention speech, which predominantly talked about himself (Christie) made absolutely no sense and was very odd. But, in light of Romney not choosing him as running mate, it entirely makes sense in the Christie world of payback. Christie was paying Romney back and setting up his 2016 run at the presidency.

(30,247 posts)I happened to see that segment. Heilemann reiterated what he and Halperin wrote in "Double Down". Romney met with Christie in NJ at the governor's mansion. He asked Christie for his endorsement. Christie responded by saying that he wasn't ready to make an endorsement yet. What angered Romney and his staff was that Christie added that he didn't want Romney to campaign in NJ until he gave them permission to do so. Romney left fuming and telling his people that he felt like he had been in an episode from the Sopranos. The word "arrogant" was used by several of them.
Well, what goes around, comes around. Screw over enough people and sooner or later it's going to come back to haunt you. I've seen it happen in the corporate world. Someone who thinks that they are above it all and are nasty, at some point they get their comeuppance.
In Christie's case, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
