Who determined that we cannot walk and chew gum at the same time.

An open post for those who who fight against the NSA, TTPP and for the 99%....

For those who know that opposing the NSA is a fight for our Constitutional right to privacy and a fight for all our Constitutional rights.

For those that oppose the TTP is a fight for our democratic sovereign determination and economic justice.

1. People who want to steer the conversation into party line social issues I'd say.

I've seen a couple of NSA threads here today filled with ad hominem attacks, appeals to anger and emotion as well as false arguments.

Addressing posters like that is pointless. Just stick to the issue and unless you get a fallacy free argument don't give them any oxygen by responding.

6. It's a tactic. An old one. It's meant to demean people by implying they are ignorant or something.

Probably originally came from some think tank where deep, deep political 'thinkers' and 'geniuses' work very 'seriously' to try to find ways to derail serious discussions on the internet. I learned to use them, to kick good threads eg. Everything has a purpose and would-be thread derailers can be used very effectively. I've seen threads that would normally drop out of sight, keep going thanks to them until they reach the Greatest Page.

Never waste a good opportunity.
