Roy Garber Dies of Heart Attack: Shipping Wars Star Dead at 49
Shipping Wars star Roy Garber passed away on Friday, Jan. 17 after suffering a major heart attack. According to TMZ, the A&E star was rushed to a Texas hospital after the attack, but passed away shortly after.
Garber, who was 49 at the time of his death, has had an on-going heart condition, sources close to the reality star's family tell TMZ. He leaves behind a longtime girlfriend, who broke the news, and his son Travis -- who he raised by himself for more than 18 years.
In his A&E bio, Garber is described as a "serious jack-of-all-trades," who was "one of the top earners in the country." In addition to shipping, Garber was an "avid fisherman and master scuba diver."
A rep for the show told TMZ, they are "deeply saddened by the loss of a member of the A&E family."

Watched the show off and on back when I watched tv and always found it interesting how some things were shipped (nothing against watching tv just have not bothered to power it on for months as most the stuff I watch isn't on there anyway).
Not a really good show overall imho but had some entertainment value and highlighted one of those things I always wondered about when I was a kid (how the did they move that thing all that way without breaking it? kind of wondering).

In China and other growth nations these shows are less appealing...
The idea of coming home from 14 hours at the steel smelter, to watch the "ice road truckers of mongolia" just isn't there.
These shows fill a void and a yearning for real jobs, in a world of McJobs.
