This is a piece of the story I don't understand.
If the documents are surrendered pursuant to a subpoena, why are they redacted?
Or were the docs redacted by the investigators prior to release?
This prompted my question:

But--I am only ASSUMING that because the investigators should presumably have access to the entire documents.

(144,945 posts)The redacted e-mails and text messages were produced with the redactions in place by the attorneys. The parties will be litigating the appropriateness of these redactions. In the latest round of subpoenas the witnesses are to produce a privilege log which lists all documents being with held due to a claim of privilege. In the typical litigation, the parties will go to a judge and ask the judge to review the documents being withheld. Here I think that the procedure will be that the Committee will have to find witness in contempt and then go to court to force compliance.
