Hoboken mayor says Guadagno 'lived up to her promise' to deny threat to withhold storm aid

After Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno called allegations by Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer "not only false but illogical" this morning, Zimmer released a statement reasserting her claims.

Zimmer said in a statement that she was "genuinely disappointed" that Guadagno "has lived up to her promise that she would deny linking Hoboken's application for Sandy hazard mitigation funding with expediting a private development project."

In an interview with CNN, Zimmer said Guadagno told her "essentially you’ve got to move forward with the Rockefeller project, this project is really important to the governor."

"And she said that she had been with him on Friday night and this was a direct message from the governor," Zimmer said.

So far, Mayor Zimmer sounds pretty creditable to me. Cheap shots about her "character" are just what I expect from Republicons in these situations.

A lot of 'leaders' and their staffs are going to be looking for jobs, if they are not in jail.

Under oath she might say she was just relaying her impressions as to the attitude of the Governor's staff.

She might play it as all inconsequential and thus not really remembered. The "illogical" could go to her contending that she has no power to do anything, how could she threaten.

She's trying to leave herself wiggle room. The press needs to pin her down on this. Pin her down and then it's a case of one of them being a liar.

I think she'll get even vaguer and start walking it back. She'll maybe say "Well, maybe the mayor does remember it that way, I regret it if I gave her the wrong impression".

Her side is trying to buy time. They have nothing.

we had years of the Blago investigations and ultimately his trial and convictions. We listened to all the denials from him and funny how the mess with Christie is taking the same tone...btw, the attacks on the Hoboken Mayor to undercut her credibility has begun...excepts the Lt Govenor seems to forget...she herself is a POS and is under criminal investigations from a couple of years ago herself

seems like the issue for credibility falls right back into christie's and his Lt Govenor.

"a criminal investigation is under way involving his running mate, New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.

As a county sheriff in 2008, Guadagno made false statements to enable her chief officer to pocket nearly $85,000 a year in retirement pay while drawing an $87,500 annual salary. The double-dipping scheme first was reported by New Jersey Watchdog in 2010.

The state's investigation is assigned to the Attorney's General's Division of Criminal Justice, a unit where Guadagno once served as deputy director. Despite the apparent conflict, Christie has not appointed a special prosecutor.

A spokesman for Christie and Guadagno declined to comment. The Attorney General's Office did not respond to questions."
