In New Economy Every Year Past 40 Increases Risk That You Job Loss Will Be Permanent.

Forget about having and edge with age, experience or education in the new economy brought to you by corporations. The new business model thrives on turnover, job insecurity and lower wages. Once a person gets past 40 they become a business expense that is too large a liability to keep a person on long term.

By the time a person turns 40 they have heath issues, are vested in higher cost benefits (vacation, higher salary, pension expenses, etc) and a growing children that become more expensive as they get older. By the time you are 40 you need extra income to send your kids to college. You also need more money for your lifestyle and money to save for retirement. That means a higher salary is necessary to defray all those expenses and even money to care for aging parents in some cases.

It used to be that a person was making their highest income near the time they retired which was around 60. Corporations now want to shed people 20 years before that time. And to add to the garbage they support an agenda that gets rid of Social Security and Medicare because they no longer want to pay THOSE taxes. They want to pocket them.

The business mind set as it stands now must be changed. The present business model leaves nothing or anyone. Retirement won't be possible for probably 90% of the population. If you want to see the future of the American worker all you have to do is look at countries in the third world where there are no protections.

It is clear that voters have to vote in pro union, pro labor or pro labor legislation candidates. Otherwise forget it. The final question is how do you wake up workers? So many at this point seem to support the present business model.

that can even be seen on DU. There is a sentiment by those under 40 that the Boomers are to blame and need to get out of the way, meaning leave their jobs, to make room for younger people.

I'm tired of waiting in line when I could do just as good of a job as the seasoned citizen who has it.

Have you thought about who is to blame for lack of jobs?
