OMG this took guts.

A call to my childhood rapist teacher
The following description is in the accusers own words:
"I am 28 years old and have been waiting years to get up enough courage to report a teacher for sexually abusing me for years. When I finally got up enough courage to report her, I found out that the statute of limitations was up and she will never have to pay for the things that she did to me.
I decided to call her and make a video to let the public know what kind of person is around their children. Her name is Andrea Cardosa and works with your children at Alhambra High School in Alhambra, Ca."

The accused in this case has allegedly resigned. Go here for more on this story.

here is part of the quote:
JAMIE: "So what happens when a student comes in and says that they're having a sexual relationship with a teacher?"

TEACHER: "I would involve law enforcement."

-

JAMIE: "So how is that any different from what you did (years ago)?"

TEACHER: "It's not."

-

JAMIE: "Do you realize that you brainwashed me, and you manipulated me, and that what you did was wrong?"

TEACHER: "Yes. And I regret it."

-

JAMIE: "You should be so ashamed and so disgusted with yourself."

TEACHER: "I am. I am."

-

Carillo spoke at a press conference outside Alhambra School on Monday, telling reporters: "The reason why I wanted to do this was to expose her for what she really was and to protect other kids, because she shouldn't be around anyone's kids."around anyone's kids."

Police have now launched an investigation, though the statute of limitations may get in the way given that the alleged abuse took place over 10 years ago.

to the statute of limitations deadline. She should file a report at the very least. It might help her -- or it might help some future victim.

If it can be shown that the offender lived outside of the state for a period of time, then that period of time might not be counted in the statutory limit.

If there is independent, corroborating evidence for a sex crime against a child, then that person, at any age, could file a complaint.

Cal. Penal Code § 803

• (b) Statute of limitations tolled during any time which prosecution of the same person for the same conduct is pending in a court of this state.

• (d) If the defendant is out of the state when or after the offense is committed, the prosecution may be commenced as provided in Section 804 within the limitations of time prescribed by this chapter, and no time up to a maximum of three years during the defendant is not within the state shall be a part of those limitations

(f)(1) Notwithstanding any other limitation, a criminal complaint may be filed within one year of the date of a report to a California law enforcement agency by a person of any age alleging that he or she, while under the age of 18 years, was the victim of a crime described in §261 Rape, §286 Sodomy, §288 Lewd or Lascivious acts involving children, §288a Oral copulation, §288.5 Continuous sexual abuse of a child, §289 Forcible acts of sexual penetration.

(f)(2) This subdivision applies only if : (A) the limitation period specified in §800, §801 or §801.1, whichever is later, has expired; (B) the crime involved substantial sexual conduct; and (C) there is independent evidence that corroborates the victim's allegation (excluding evidence that would be inadmissible during trial and opinions of mental health professionals). If the victim was 21 years of age or older at the time of the report, the independent evidence shall clearly and convincingly corroborate the victim's allegation.
