At least there will be somebody who has the vocal range.

(Horrible national anthem, IMHO)

3. It's only 1.5 octaves, not a tremendous amount of range required...

She did a talk, but not a sing.

Very nice in person.

Even more so than Jessye Norman and I LOVE Norman's voice. Did you notice that few seconds after she finishes the "hush" in the crowd? That's a mesmerized audience.

If anyone has a chance to see her in person, don't miss the opportunity. You won't be disappointed.

This is Marilyn (Jackie) Horne at the Met's 100 Anniversary Gala. One of the best mezzos in history. I would have killed to have been able to be there. It must have been a night to remember.

Listen to the color of her voice and the legato. It's so beautiful it makes me weep. The icing came when she hugged Rise Stevens, who is considered the best Dalila ever.

But I digress, I posted Renee singing Casta Diva because it's the first video I found. Although, I think that Sutherland and Callas owned the role.

I just love that segment with Marilyn, her sound is very unique. She just turned 80 on the 16th and she still teaches master classes.

I have a bad habit that when I hear beautiful music performed virtually flawlessly, or see beautiful pieces of art or see a beautiful dance, I cry. I blubbered her entire concert -- an hour and a half. Her rendition of "O Mio Babbino Caro" will take your breath away.
