Has there been a political turn at the Washington Post?

Interesting things are happening at the Washington Post.

1. The Volokh Conspiracy has moved to the Post’s website.

2. Libertarian reporter/blogger Randy Balko has moved to the Post.

3. Ezra Klein, an influential progressive columnist/blogger is leaving the Post.

Together, these represent a significant change in the Post’s website from progressivism towards libertarianism.

ETA: website seems to be from Liberty Law school. Jerry Falwell purchased Oral Roberts Law School and moved it to Lynchburg. I would never post anything from those psychos on DU.

about changes at WaPo, we should take that as a sign to keep a very close eye on what they're doing. I was concerned Jeff Bezos would turn it into a propoganda arm for his libertarian/right wing/corporatist beliefs. Liberty commenting on who is working at the paper tells me my fears have been confirmed.

That's one of the biggest things i've hated with all the buying out of companies. The wealthy purchase a media outlet or product based on the good will or reputation the product has, only to usurp it for their own ends.

I checked before posting and couldn't find anything connecting the website to Liberty University.

2. WaPost has always skewed conservative, but, with a few token progressives.

No surprise that it's now accommodating the Ayn Rand Republicans even more.

However, having been a daily Post reader for 23 years, I would never call the Post progressive in the slightest way. Ever. They were all for the various Middle East wars and they strongly support Social Security "reform" among other things.

In his twisted view the Washington Post is left wing progressive/liberal media. I believe most liberals would categorize the Washington Post as slightly right-of-center.

to me. I have a lot of friends and relative in Northern VA who call themselves Libertarian. They're really just self centered, ignorant jerks, but thats another story. I'm sure they'd welcome a shift to the right from the Post, though.
