Third "Marlboro Man" dies of lung disease

From 1978 to 1981, actor Eric Lawson portrayed the iconic Marlboro Man in print advertisements, conveying the image of rugged masculinity the cigarette industry wanted to project for customers and potential smokers.

This month, Lawson died of lung disease at age 72.

Lawson died at his San Luis Obispo, Calif., home on Jan. 10 from respiratory failure caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, his wife, Susan Lawson, told the Associated Press on Sunday.

Killed 2 of my family. They got hopelessly addicted to the death sticks and both died in the 40's from cancer.

you will die of lung cancer.
She was 57.

It is not until I watch 1950's noir films and tv shows from that era that I realize how much people smoked back then.

..he had one lobe of a lung removed due to lung cancer - because he smoked.

So did my Mom. So did I. And my sister. We ALL quit after that - years ago. It should scare the bejeesus out of people. It scared us into quitting. And as addictive and deadly as that shit is, it's STILL legal. And the same PR tactics and marketing psy-ops that were used to keep these goddamned things on the market all these years, are used for damn near everything else that is destructive and against the public's best interests - the GOP and the Tea Party/Kochs are very familiar with these tactics. Because unfortunately - they work.

But....cannabis is illegal. Nowhere near as addictive or deadly.

We're one effed-up society here. And stupid.
