The parrot, named Amore, was initially passed up by Pope Francis as he rode around in the popemobile during his general audience in St. Peter's Square Wednesday. Eventually, Francis went back to bless the bird and hold it on his finger.
The bird's owner was identified as Francesco Lombardi, and according to ANSA, he's a former male stripper turned erotic film actor.
"It was fun," Lombardi told ANSA after meeting the pope. "A sort of mixing of the holy and the profane."

We own two smaller parrots and my Nanday could, if well motivated, beak all the way to the bone.

(17,320 posts)I stuck my finger up toward him, he "sweetly" clasped it with one of his feet, gently put it in his beak, and calmly clamped down to the bone. I've still got a small scar. I never had the feeling that his bite was an aggressive move. He was just messing around with my finger.
However, I definitely learned my lesson about parrots.

(28,876 posts)Is the bird the stripper's manager, or is ABC just trying to be scandalous?
And, seriously ABC, THIS is what you consider to be news? Pretty pathetic.

(45,319 posts)More of the same, Francis stories that are enhanced and hyperbolized. The nugget of truth in this story= he does not drive himself and he does use the Popemobile, one of the world's most expensive custom cars. For the poor, of course, for the poor.

(18,402 posts)At least not in the story I read about it.
The pontiff initially passed the green parrot, named Amore, while making the rounds of St. Peter's Square in the popemobile for his weekly general audience, according to ABC News. He eventually made his way back to bless the bird.
Italian news service ANSA identified the parrot's owner as Francesco Lombardi, a former male stripper and town council leader in Northern Italy who now acts in erotic films.
