states, was it a way to get rid of the "socialists" police system?
Not that I'm really a fan of Police. I think too many of them are ego-manics who make enough headlines on this board alone daily.
BUT if we have these "Stand Your Ground" laws on the records and being so widely used was it ALEC's hope that they would cut down on police force since people can now kill if they feel threaten?

(145,126 posts)Since the Martin incident, ALEC has disbanded the branch or group pushing these laws. In addition, ALEC was responsible for most of the voter id laws and now ALEC claims that it is out of this business

(145,126 posts)ALEC is funded by industry groups and so at that time ALEC was getting funding from gun manufacturers.
After the Martin death, ALEC disbanded the division pushing gun laws and voter legislation due to the bad press and the fact that ALEC's mainstream supporters did not want to be associated with these efforts

(6,635 posts)with writing the SYG and CCW laws was at the behest of the NRA, and the Koch Brothers fondness for extreme right-wing legislation. The bottom line, however, was pure Republican right-wing greed and more profits for gun manufacturers and dealers through the sale of yet more guns.
