For the study, researchers at the University of California-Los Angeles (ULCA) analyzed dozens of published and unpublished studies on how womens preferences for mates change throughout the menstrual cycle.
They found that the desire for these masculine characteristics thought to be signs of high genetic quality dont last all month, just the few days in a womans cycle when she is most likely to pass on genes that give her offspring a better chance of surviving.
Women sometimes get a bad rap for being fickle, but the changes they experience are not arbitrary, said Dr. Martie Haselton, a professor of psychology and communication studies at UCLA and the papers senior author. Women experience intricately patterned preference shifts even though they might not serve any function in the present.

(14,040 posts)is I'm a lesbian. This doesn't really apply to me... So, though you think you're being clever with this post, you really aren't. And what about married women? I'd guess they already have what they "want."

(110,159 posts)i hardly see you on here. but what, about a year ago, there was that irritating little rape week we had going on. you said something that was such a duh, in my face, so obvious that i had not seen. that i appreciated so much. i want to thank you. the explanation how rape porn, cannot be "rape" porn. you patiently explained it out. once seen. cannot unsee. lol. so obvious, and an of course. and something i had not thought of. so, thank you for providing that simple logic. i appreciate it. in growth and understanding. it is with all of us.
