I see frequent accusations about this apparently all-powerful "MRA" that I had never before heard about, and now I'm being told DU is full of them. Or, perchance, to you mean people who don't automatically fall in line with the radical feminist ultras? Are all those people who failed to get sufficiently upset with the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue MRAers?

The so-called gender wars are here because there have been a lot of issues of sexism that have come up. Or perhaps they started when all the macho libertarian male types came? (Right back at ya.) The insulting OP is a good example why feminists need to stand up on left web sites. Let's remember that feminism came of age in response to the truly odious sexist behavior of male power power players on the radical left in the 60s. That's a fact, and a sad one. |

Have you been living under a large rock until recently? I am not a Hillary fan. But I'm a woman and a proud, avowed feminist. I have been angry much of my 65 years at how women have been treated. My support, or lack of support, for Hillary is a completely separate issue. |

55. Most of that PUMA crap was a media fabrication.
I voted for Hilary in the primaries and Obama in the general, no problem.
The so-called "gender wars" started, as far as I can tell, because the left still has problems with sexism. See Ed Shultz calling a female right-wing radio host a slut, that horrible cartoon of Ann Coulter being raped by the democratic donkey, and even some posts here, like the one were someone said that almost all young women will cheat on their b.f.s/husbands if they are given the right opportunity. When it comes to Hilary, I think what we have to look forward to is people who just cannot stand her throwing everything they've got her way, and a lot of sexism from all sides, including the left. I'm not even a huge supporter of hers, but some of the anti-Hilary crap, just like some of the anti-Obama crap (and please notice I said *some*) just comes across as a bit unhinged. But I'm not gonna let that hold me back. I've chosen to stop worrying about what some sexist idiot says, either online or IRL. The only thing I can do is speak out against it and try to have a calm and rational debate, or if they chose to be unreasonable, just forget about them and move on. And sometimes, just sometimes, I've gotten other women AND men to change their views. Now most of them are friends and they're liberal/feminist/pro-choice. |
