Franklin [NJ] schools: No 'neglect' by our staff when child left on freezing bus for hours

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — The interim superintendent said that the district showed no negligence after an internal investigation into the case of the autistic 3-year-old boy left alone on a freezing bus for hours with no parental notification.

"There was no incidence of neglect, just miscommunication," Eveny Pagan, interim superintendent of the Franklin Township school district, said at Thursday's Board of Education meeting.

Pagan said that after a school investigation and meetings with the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency, formerly known as DYFS, including on-site interviews, it was concluded that there was no fault on the part of the staff at Franklin Park School, where the incident happened.

"There are no charges to be brought against any staff members," Pagan said.

A separate investigation by principal of the Franklin Park School came to the same conclusion, she said.
