"Doctors on the streets" are helping Cleveland's homeless

CLEVELAND - On Friday night instead of going out, a group of doctors and professionals from MetroHealth Medical Center instead spend their start to the weekend giving back!
It's called "Doctors on the Streets" a completely volunteer-based program that started off with doctors reaching out the homeless around the Public Square area.
Once the Horseshoe Casino moved in, those leading the program said they turned to St. Malachi's shelter to better serve those in need.
The professionals that volunteer do so during the winter months and provide basic, but very important care. How important?
Dr. Leanne Chrisman-Khawam is the Family Medicine Residency Program Director at MetroHealth and told NewsChannel5 about 50% of the homeless population dies each year and many of their ailments stem from minor issues they didn't or couldn't seek help for.
