and you realize that people need to stop speaking in tired, overused phrases or "memes" they picked up on the internet.
Yes, haters are gonna hate but describing your thoughts in your own words is a total game changer.
It will literally make people's heads explode.
Of course most people lack the time or originality for such an endeavor and won't be able to accomplish it.
Sorry it's true! Don't be mad, bro! it is what it is.
But at the end of the day language is all we have and it reflects our individual thoughts. Let's not become merely extensions of websites, blogs and 4-channel threads, ok?

I live in a RW area so I have more face-to-face conversations with wingers. So often I hear little more than yesterday's hate radio when it comes to politics, and its a little sad to see people I would otherwise respect play the puppet and recycle the latest argle-blarg, without a new thought to show.
It happens on both sides, of course; I try to keep in mind how disappointing mimicry can be to hear, and I try not to speak unless I am speaking my own words.
on edit, having read the other responses, and having re-read the OP, I think it is odd that something so plainly spoken is so little comprehended here. Its simple - its good to speak your own thoughts, your own words, your own understandings. That requires you to have those things, of course, which requires a certain amount of mental activity rather than simply cut-and-pasting the mental activity of others.

Plus some of these things are so poignant and well put-together, I would never do it that justice.
Links posted to new news going on does inform people and allows them to express themselves intelligently.

(13,485 posts)The words we use are immensely important to communication. I've been called pedantic and pompous enough times to know how the loss of language skills has effected all of us. If Internet speak is added to a person's language skills, OK; there is a time for all types of expression. But Internet speak has become the language, and it's an extremely limited one. When it's used by people who don't have a reasonable vocabulary it disproportionately limits their ability to communicate and if there is anything that is needed among Internet participants these days, it's better communication.
Limit the vocabulary and you limit communication. Limit communication and you create misunderstanding. Speech in all forms whether classic, urban or slang is great, but being limited to small, tired phrases and overused gut slang is trite let alone mostly meaningless.
Thanks for a great OP!!!

(13,485 posts)If this is a joke, my answer stands as my personal comment all by itself.
I am not joking. But if this communication has been circumvented because of the same trite Internet speech I was talking about....
It makes my point more clear and duly corroborated.

(6,810 posts)I've long been able to communicate well-ahead of my age. I have my first-grade teacher to thank for that. I struggled with reading and after she helped me, I took to books further and further more advanced than those my peers were reading. It spilled over into my writing as I progressed through school. I grew to understand and accept language and communication are not, have never been, nor ever should be rigid and unchanging.
A lesson you stubbornly refuse to accept as life goes on around you.
Bonobo
(29,257 posts)The fact that you got so pissed off that you had to say "Take your lumps, old man." showed that you lost your shit for some reason that I can only assume is because you felt targeted due to your own struggles in communicating beyond the level of parroting things you read others say.
Anyway, it was supposed to be a humorous OP and most people found it to be so.
I think it's time for you to take a break and go eat a sandwich or something.

You have got to be shitting me. You take my early reading struggles in first grade, decades ago, and twist into only being able to communicate in Internet-speak? You are out-of-line.

(750 posts)Here to have a place express our thoughts about the vector of life, about this thing called being, that which we have the right to understand the sense about the Ontology of life. Everyone thinks about the purpose, and service to our selves, and others, to achieve Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Yes a place for good dialog, a Democratic venue that is far superior than anything Platos Republic could ever conceive.
Now most people are caught in survival because of the wickedness of a few men. There is a prophecy given by that of the one percenters over four hundred years ago. The most high and mighty with the grace of god king James in his version of the good book chapter six line three; And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.
Then an extraordinary prophecy at the time to suggest a man should live so long. We all are very sure even king James would marvel at todays living standards. Able to see how capitalism turned into thousands of kingdoms, islands of independent missions now granted the right to life where the corporation is the same as the citizen they are people.
Talk about awkward, trying to make sense of this new living cell called the corporation that are people or the same as a person. That quantum mass that equates to one is an incredible translation. For everyone has the right to life for the basic cell, but yet obstructed to learn about why we are here. Too big to fail, yes because the fair share is not there, the governance latched into meta-physical files to ogle and google an advantage to power and rule.
Or a massive trumpet sounds you are born to shift for your-self, but lend your life to serve and protect with promised vanishing benefits. The new paradigm is health for everyone makes many wonder why was that idea not there in the first place. Who are these people that make life so miserable. That riddle rhetoric make blame rather than solve, encourage war take tax money for profiteering rather than install peace an infrastructure for the common wealth. We all know who they are the deceivers, dishonest, using trickery, and false witness over and over, Liberally saying they are Conservative.
