I should have linked the thread, to start. Rather silly for me to assume you knew what I was referencing.

They're idiots. It's probably better to just put them on ignore.

It is clearly, clearly the case that two things are true at the same time:

1.) The US and its allies have earned the ire of large proportions of the Russian people

and

2.) Putin would like to reassemble large portions of the USSR and keep Russia at or near the top in terms of World power and influence.

Point 1.) requires self-examination

Not so 2.)

I just don't think I'm going to bother waiting for the "GASP! THAT MEANS YOU HATE AMERICA!" (or similar) crowd to catch up and get real. "Noooooo, what I'm saying doesn't secretly imply what you need it to to make you feel good about yourself relative to it" is lost on them. There's plenty of people on this site that get more out of being argued with than making any good faith attempt to describe reality.

They are Not My Problem.

1. Thankfully Obama is not the warmongering Bush
2. Russia actually has a say in that one

The world is always better off with more than one superpower.
Just my two cents.

Yet can't see, in a World where oligarchy tends to be the predominant political structure, that you need some sort of adversarial system to keep the oligarchies in check?
