Traffic Backed Up For 40 Miles South Of Dallas

Took me three hours to go 6 miles last night-

mile marker 208 to 214 45 Northbound

To the dude in the blue fullsize ford van that ended up going down the right ditch 30 feet into the trees, you deserve it asshole for that stunt you tried to pull.

CORSICANA (CBSDFW.COM) - Icy roads created traffic nightmares for drivers across North Texas on Monday morning, but one of the worst areas was along Interstate-45 in Navarro County. Hundreds (Snooper edit (make that thousands)) of cars and trucks were stuck in the northbound lanes of the highway between Coriscana and Hutchins.

The backup stretched at least 40 miles, if not more.

Jeri Robertson was traveling between Houston and Missouri. She was stuck in the same spot for more than four hours — beginning at 2:40 a.m. — after already enduring a two-hour long backup earlier along the interstate. “I’ve just been trying to keep myself as busy as I can,” she said, “basically just listening to the radio.”

It wasn't much better on I-35 either. TexasTowelie Mar 2014 #3
I would probably still be on 45 right now if not for "ditching it" snooper2 Mar 2014 #6
As of about an hour ago it was still backed up. nt ChisolmTrailDem Mar 2014 #5

The must have come north up the southbound lanes and turned around and went south again because that was before the miles and miles of backup going southbound.

I think this afternoon you "might" be okay. Make sure full tank of gas and beef jerky. Maybe let some air out of your drive tires.

The three hour trip between Austin and Dallas took over seven hours instead. The traffic was crawling between Temple and Waxahachie.

most people don't know that the fresh white ice is better to drive on than the glazed over lanes-

It was just a matter of getting around stuck/jackknifed semis, other stuck/crashed cars and bouncing from left shoulder (which really isn't a shoulder there) and the right shoulder- with a big dropoff
