"I'm truly sorry you're poor, but we can't raise your wage because it might hurt your richer boss."

Have I missed anything from the Republican's argument against raising the minimum wage?

Listening to Maryland Republican delegates rail against raising the minium wage to $10.10 has my blood boiling.

I gotta say too, I really question the intellectual capacity of these so-called small business owners who somehow think it's cheaper to pack up their entire business and BUY an entire NEW commercial space in another state all so they can avoid the oh so expensive burden of giving their workers an extra couple bucks an hour.

and if they build they get new depreciation deductions along with employees who will work for peanuts.
So if they can maintain their income level they will a bigger ROI.

and one of the managers told me that they oppose the minimum wage increase because "it'll put employees like you into a higher tax bracket, thus the government will take more taxes out of your paycheck".

Sometimes it was people not understanding how the tax system works, but I suspect some of that came from people feeding them false information. People need to work toward being a bit more informed on that stuff.
