At Bartcop. From the Bartblog about the pearly gates. Moving.

This is beautiful.

In Memory Of.....

St. Peter was closing the gate when newly arrived Rufus asked, “You let HIM in?”

“Yes, the boss ordered it done.”

“You do realize he ranted all the time about organized religion and called them all kinds of names…”

“So does the boss.”

“I’m pretty sure if he wasn’t an atheist he was at least an agnostic.”

“With all the stuff said, done and claimed in his name, the boss can’t blame him.

Then the post says "the boss" even let him put something on the gates as he entered.

As a recovering Southern Baptist I understand the harm often done by organized religion. I remember when Bartcop and I talked on the phone in the early 2000's. We were discussing the lead up to the Iraq invasion, and I mentioned how my then church was supporting the "holy war" from the pulpit. That got him started. What a conversation.

Yes, I am sure "the boss" understands.

not contempt for those in the minority. And organized religion should not advocate for "holy wars".

Your ideas are valuable and should be respected. Unfortunately those of us who question current policy in any field are often under fire.

Today everyone pretends that everyone knew it back then. Sure, right...

You've been light years ahead of the crowd especially on these important educational matters where future generations are being sacrificed to greed. I'm glad you're still here and not letting the the attacks and distractions stop you.

And I am thinking about doing the same again. Even when I post sources, links, stick right to the truth....it's really hard to survive.

I don't expect everyone to agree with what I post, in doubt few do. But I think respect is in order even if there is disagreement.

and life was better for it but the alternative of shutting up, the consequences of losing voices like yours are frightening. The Left must never shut up because for every stupid insult here, there are 20 members and lurkers reading, learning and appreciating. That's the only respect that matters in the end.

The petty insults, the derailings don't matter a few months down the road, no one comes here to read those and they don't show up in google searches either so courage dear sister! Over the years you gave many of us courage and I hope we'll always return the favor, in solidarity over ideals and principles.

People I got to hold Bartcop stickers while I took their picture:

Larry Flint
Howard Dean
Greg Palast
Helen Thomas
Arianna Huffington
Michael Moore
Susan Macdugal
Bernie Sanders

Yeah, somewhere there is a pic of God holding a Bartcop sticker

And the post was a reply to yours, but intended for all readers.

I can't remember for certain, but I feel confident that Bart is who sent me in this direction so many moons ago--clearly a common story!

When you consider the size of the impact he had, it's amazing to think he was only 60.

Will get a bottle of Chinaco Ańejo tomorrow to celebrate the beauty of his life.

P.S. I love tequila, and I still haven't found a better one for the price. It's the nectar....
