Elderly couple kicked out of Va. McDonald's for sitting too long
WASHINGTON -- After an elderly couple got the boot from their local McDonald's for sitting too long, management and the owner are not answering the question if there really is a 30-minute sitting limit at the Culpeper, Va. fast food restaurant.
Carl Becker, 87, a World War II veteran, and his wife Barbara Becker, 81, say they both were at the Culpeper McDonald's on Feb. 21 at about 2:30 p.m. when they were approached by the manager.
The location is a place the pair has frequented for years.
"And he says 'You two are going to have to leave.' He said 'Your half hour is up and we need to clean this floor,'" says Barbara Becker. The restaurant was not crowded at the time, she says, and the two were stunned. This was the first time they had ever been asked to leave a McDonald's.

(2,593 posts)treating people this way. More and more, I prefer to stay home to avoid the hustle, bustle and rudeness that seems to permeate much of society. This intolerance and rudeness even shows up when you're in the car. I'm developing a bunker mentality!

In any case, this is an earth-shaking news story of intense of national significance.

(63,203 posts)I guess my point is that I expect that the same people who objected to the SI cover because it wasn't "of national interest" will object to your post with the same enthusiasm.
I just wanted to be first in line.

this is a deliberate smear and call out to the people who objected to the SI cover.

Enough to get the passive-aggressive squad to ineffectually storm the proverbial and petulant beaches to find new and improved things to trivialize for the glory of Pretense.

(146,287 posts)Of course, this will lead the evening local news and make the local papers. Lots of people are not going to be pleased by this manager tossing a couple of oldsters from his store. It will not work out well for that McDonald's location, I'm sure.
I wonder if this was the top manager or one of the many "assistant managers" every McDonalds seems to have. Lots of those are managers in name only, and cannot even manage themselves very well. If that was the case, that assistant manager will probably lose his job over this gaffe.
If the restaurant isn't crowded, let the old folks sit there. Who cares, really? Is there a 30 minute rule? Maybe there is, but still. Leave the old folks alone.
My parents are both 89 years old. It can take them almost half an hour just to get into a McDonalds and place their order, sometimes. Not really, but they move slowly these days. People over 80 who are still getting out and around deserve a little forbearance, as far as I'm concerned. They've earned it.
