I mean really, the Sunday LOLCats does a lot better (and is one of my favorites).
The Top 10 Conservative Idiots should get more support than it does. It didn't get enough recs to get past 1 star, or enough replies to get kicked even once.
So what gives? Is Monday morning a bad time to post this? Is it being taken for granted? Any ideas?
So take a look if you missed it. This is a high quality effort and a pretty good read too.

(28,749 posts)Maybe that style of post isn't a great fit for DU anymore?
It's not very controversial we all agree those top 10 are idiots... so no one flames, etc.
Not sure but good question, the OP does a good job every week!

(1,546 posts)so my guess is that EarlG had too many other things to do to keep this going himself.

(24,780 posts)Bush in a couple if places and Tom Delay in a couple of places on the list. It was very novel back in the original Top 10 days. We could laugh at them more. We know the other side much better now and are hardly shocked or outraged anymore. I guess we've matured in that respect. Nothing surprises us anymore. JMHO.

(24,780 posts)It was also a time when conservatives already had message boards for several years. Many of us read them. I was trolling the old Michael Reagan forum in the mid-90's because there was nothing else. Reagan finally shut it down and then came FR. But DU was one of the first. I still consider it the first. We could finally share outrage and laughs at the conservatives. It's what made TTCI so good. We 're past that time.

(2,952 posts)We were all in shock over the elections, still angry over the Clinton/Starr investigations and the impeachment attempt. It brought like minds together in a safe environment. The outrage and disbelief at the depths conservatives were willing to go shocked us still...I think now that it's become such an hourly thing it has numbed us to all but the worst of outrages...i can't say I'm not guilty of it sometimes myself.

(11,589 posts)Those top ten idiots are stories that I knew about.
(I went and read and learned some knew things.)
That said, I went to the link and learned a hella lot more that I read about previously.
I'll say it here:
We should stop assuming that we/other people/DU'rs know everything and START embracing things that we might not already know.
I was once a new member here. I wanted to learn more. I want for this place to be welcoming to new members, and Today's Top 10 Conservative Idiots is a good place to start.

(1,546 posts)to earn their reputations. So your point of summarizing the latest idiocy for newcomers is a good point.

(20,600 posts)too routine, too "blah". I would be much more surprised and interested to read a "top 10 conservatives who didn't act like an idiot this week". That said, I looked at the thread, and they do a good job in their thread series, so good for them!

(22,308 posts)There are so many, how can those 10 (whoever they may be at any given time) really be noteworthy?
ramblin_dave
(1,546 posts)I'm sure some weeks it's difficult to pick just 10. But even when I see the person or group, and know already the subject that got them on the list this week, I enjoy the snarkiness of the presentation.
Thanks for your comment.

(22,308 posts)and ran some preliminary polls until we got finalists. Then picked a Winner (Loser) out of those finalists.
It would be more interactive and maybe create more interest.

(14,554 posts)Monday mornings are busy for most people. Not to mention that many are heading into another week of soul crushing servitude to our corporate masters and may not have the desire to be filled with outrage. Because no matter how funny the commentary is, the things the idiots do and say are pretty depressing.

(1,546 posts)Maybe the author could consider posting Monday evening (US time).

(110,900 posts)so I posted a question at ATA about linking it to the front page since the weird posting time (for the US) was tending to get it lost and Nanjing to Seoul was doing a great job.
The Top Ten list linked on Buzzflash is what got me here 13 years ago.

(25,406 posts)These idiots keep saying and doing the same idiotic things over and over again (is it up to 50 votes to repeal Obamacare?) No offense but it's hard to make stuff we all expect to happen compelling.

No biggie.
It's a decent read, and I will likely read the next edition as well.

(22,271 posts)Because the original was hysterical. The new version doesn't have the same level of sophisticated humor. I appreciate the effort of the writer of the new version but it just doesn't measure up to the original. Not even close. (You asked.)

(37,128 posts)...much like the Image Of The Day is now, making it easier to find and increasing its draw.
2) as much as I appreciate Nanjing to Seoul taking up the task, IMO it's simply not as good as it was. The new incarnation comes off as more preaching-to-the-choir jeering to me, whereas Ye Olde Tymee version was relentless with both wit and facts, DU's own little Daily Show segment.
Peruse the archive for examples.

(4,717 posts)...IIRC, this used to have special space on the front page back in the day. If it's back in full rotation, perhaps it should be more prominently displayed.
