So we just picked a side. How were we to know?
sharp_stick
(14,400 posts)That must have been exciting. Did you meet the Obama's?
I did love the look on Obama's face when curtain came down.

(56,699 posts)This time, I had about ten seconds. Last time, I had an hour:

Sorry, no idea where he's from. Or the other guy.
But they had beards, ya know?
DFW
(56,699 posts)He was always better trimmed than I was (so is Obama). But I still have a day job, and don't get to the barber much. And as for the hour-long meeting 2 years ago, I was on vacation in the States out in the middle of nowhere when I got the email, "if you could make it to Washington this Friday, the President would love to see you, etc. etc." It wasn't exactly on the schedule when I had left Europe. Well, I was lucky I had some halfway formal attire with me at all. I could just as easily have turned up in shorts and a white T-shirt (would have made the security check a piece of cake, though).

(53,661 posts)I still remember your awesome report of that pre-election talk.
It really did my heart good!
DFW
(56,699 posts)The talk was mostly (though not all) election strategy, and not for public publication (for obvious reasons). The extremist right reads this blog, too, and the last thing I was invited to do was to let them in on election strategy!

(53,661 posts)That was zany. You can see Obama isn't afraid of his critics.
And just who gave that guy clearance, again?

(3,163 posts)Obama was not all that funny, reasonably so but far from a knee slapper.
But he was "fall down side splitting" compared to that idiot Zack whatever. That guy was just an arrogant jerk.
joshcryer
(62,495 posts)He sits there "between two ferns" and asks very awkward and stupid questions and basically the more awkward it is the better.
And people enjoy that?

(62,495 posts)It was good, even if it was obviously staged.
I do think Zach intentionally kept interrupting Obama when he was doing his stately plugging of HealthCare.gov.
Also, the "drones" bit was beautiful.

(102,172 posts)Zach: It must suck to not be able to run for a third term.
Obama: I actually think it's a good thing. It would be like making a third Hangover movie.

(1,643 posts)WorldNutDaily has some screed about it being "humorless" and it seems pretty much all the comments left to the story believe it was truly unscripted and that "Obummer" is just that mean. LOL!
I'm so glad I'm not an idiot.

(14,400 posts)I laughed my ass off when it first came out and slowly realized just how effective a tool it had become.
I've been a big fan of between two ferns and the uncomfortable comedy it produced. The fact that Obama and his people were OK with doing it really impressed me.
