It's already responsible for a death. So get this, Zimmerman was able to stalk someone out in the open and shoot him, but if you lean for your gun when someone knocks on your door, the police can shoot you from the window.
Lawsuit planned over deadly Orlando 'knock-and-talk'
The Florida Civil Rights Association will announce details Tuesday about a lawsuit the group plans to file against Orlando police and the city over the fatal shooting of a man during a controversial "knock-and-talk."
Karvas Gamble Jr. was killed Jan. 16, 2013 when eight officers responded to an Arlington Street building on a tip that marijuana was being sold there.
During a "knock-and-talk," officers try to get people to voluntarily talk and open their doors, and then they look for evidence.
In the Gamble case, a detective saw a gun through a porch window and said he shot Gamble when he leaned toward the weapon. The detective said he yelled, "Police. Don't touch the gun," but when Gamble leaned toward the weapon, the detective shot him in the abdomen.

You have no obligation to open your door to the police unless they have a warrant (except for special circumstances, like a report of domestic violence).
