Here are 3 idiots.

Jenny McCarthy: We need to get rid of the toxins, the mercurywhich I am so tired of everyone saying it's been removed. It has not been removed from the shots."
Donald Trump: You know, I have a theory [about the rise in autism diagnoses]. And its a theory that some people believe in and thats the vaccinations. We never had anything like this. This is now an epidemic. Its way, way up over the past 10 years. Its way up over the past two years. And, you know, when you take a little baby that weighs like 12 pounds into a doctors office and they pump them with many, many simultaneous vaccinations Im all for vaccinations, but I think when you add all of these vaccinations together and then two months later the baby is so different then lots of different things have happened. I really Ive known cases.
Jim Carrey: If we are to believe that the ruling of the 'vaccine court' in these cases mean that all vaccines are safe, then we must also consider the rulings of that same court in the Hannah Polling and Bailey Banks cases, which ruled vaccines were the cause of autism and therefore assume that all vaccines are unsafe. Clearly both are irresponsible assumptions, and neither option is prudent.

(32,324 posts)Too bad that most Americans are convinced by Big Corporate Controlled Pseudo Science, and have no concept of inductive reasoning.
Parents spray willingly the Formaldehyde, the benzene and toulene that are carried in the aerosols of Febreeze, Glade, and Lysol products. They are easily convinced by ads running on TV.
Formaldehyde replaced mercury in the vaccines, meaning the vaccines are still extremely dangerous for infants. Back in the day, parents were told NOT to vaccinate infants, as natural immunity was provided simply from the experience the baby had in the womb of the mom.
Now pregnant women are urged to get flu vaccines, even though flu vaccines have mercury in them.
McCarthy went to the same HS I went to. We had to spend four very systemized years of logic and critical thought embedded inside our English lit studies. A year of poetics, a year of rhetoric, a year of dialectics, and then in senior year a synthesis of the teachings. These days many kids graduate HS and can't even define the word "synthesis."

(32,324 posts)the argument regarding vaccinations, a recent scare mongering attempt to have people be vaccinated for the flu did not succeed.
Only five million people out of a population of 80 million went and had their shot.
Here the media tries very hard to keep the Vaccine Industry numbers going.
And newspapers try to support them. But they too end up seeing the same things that Ms MCarthy sees.
Circa 1999, 2000, the San Francisco Chronicle sent reporters out to research vaccine labs. The editors at the Chron thought if the public could only realize how safe and how highly regulated everything is relating to vaccines, the public would become more convinced to have the vaccines (and to vaccinate their infants and children, as well.)
However, the reporters immediately discovered the labs to be awash in filth and contamination. Bacteria was rampant, so was viral material. The vaccines were not at all sterile, but instead contained active bacteria and active viral material.
And not only that, but the labs were a mess. It also caused quite a bit of dismay among the reporters to find out that the "Fed investigators" came out rarely, usually no more than every three or four years, and that those investigators always let it be known to the heads of the lab when they would arrive.
Although the article being written totally disputed the reason and the principles behind their decision to investigate the labs, the Chron editors went with the story their reporters had written.
If vaccines are so wonderful and produced so very safely, then why oh why does the Industry keep control of so many Congress people that there are always pieces of legislation in place to see that the vaccination manufacturers are shielded from having to compensate the victims?

(39,171 posts)The World Health Organization said Thursday that France had 4,937 reported cases of measles between January and March compared with 5,090 cases during all of 2010. In all, more than 6,500 cases have been reported in 33 European nations.
To prevent measles outbreaks, officials need to vaccinate about 90 percent of the population. But vaccination rates across Europe have been patchy in recent years and have never fully recovered from a discredited 1998 British study linking the vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella to autism. Parents abandoned the vaccine in droves and vaccination rates for parts of the U.K. dropped to about 50 percent.
The disease has become so widespread in Europe in recent years that travelers have occasionally exported the disease to the U.S. and Africa.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/21/europe-measles-outbreak-france_n_851911.html
For comparison, in all of 2011 there were 222 cases in America.
The increase in importations reflects recent increases in the incidence of measles in countries visited by U.S. travelers. The source of almost half of the measles importations in 2011 was the WHO European Region, which reported >30,000 cases of measles, including 27 cases of measles encephalitis, a complication that often results in permanent neurologic sequelae, and eight measles-related deaths in 2011. Five countries (France, Italy, Romania, Spain, and Germany) accounted for more than 90% of cases reported to the European Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (4). Although measles has been eliminated in the Region of the Americas since 2002 and considerable progress has been achieved in global measles control, measles is still common in many countries.

Every kid I knew growing up had it; so did their brothers and sisters.
Watch Gregory Peck answer his daughter's question about a sibling that has the measles, from the 1950's move, "The Man In the Grey Flannel Suit."
"Will they die, Daddy?" Peck's answer, "No they will be sick for a day or two, honey. Then they will be out playing with you."
In most families, where people are eating three healthy meals a day, and sanitation is a given, nothing bad comes of measles.
Like the flu, it could actually strengthen a person's health. (Studies done in the 1980's showed that people who ran a fever lasting one or two days with the flu purged their bodies of cancer cells.) In order to arrive at the scary numbers about children dying from measles, about brain damage, etc, the researchers have to include children from the poorest barrios in Central America, where due to mal- nourishment and lack of clean water, the poor living conditions mean that chronic dysentery and other ailments are prevalent, a measles epidemic does carry a lot of risk.

(39,171 posts)Measles is one of the leading causes of death among young children even though a safe and cost-effective vaccine is available.
In 2012, there were 122 000 measles deaths globally about 330 deaths every day or 14 deaths every hour.
Measles vaccination resulted in a 78% drop in measles deaths between 2000 and 2012 worldwide.
In 2012, about 84% of the world's children received one dose of measles vaccine by their first birthday through routine health services up from 72% in 2000.
Since 2000, more than 1 billion children in high risk countries were vaccinated against the disease through mass vaccination campaigns ― about 145 million of them in 2012.
It remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally, despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine. Approximately 122 000 people died from measles in 2012 mostly children under the age of five
