The new normals come fast these days (snow edition)

Six inches of snow in the Washington D.C. area was a calamity of the first order as recently as four weeks ago. You didn't even need electronic media to know that something might be coming... people would mutter about the forecasts everywhere you went, like we were on the brink of war.

But after only a few weeks of substantial snow coming along every 5-10 days, hey... it snows 3-6 inches every few days and that's just what it is. The exact same snowfall that was 24 hour news only weeks ago is now just the weather report. The local 24 hour news channel is talking about Crimea and school test scores and whether some grocery store gets built and such.

We are fast-adapting creatures.
