Texas GOP Chief To Women: Stop Suing For Equal Pay And Negotiate Better Like Man

CAITLIN MACNEAL – MARCH 18, 2014, 12:26 PM EDT

The executive director of the Texas Republican Party on Tuesday evening argued that rather than seeking legal recourse on equal pay, women should learn to better negotiate their salaries.

"Men are better negotiators, and I would encourage women, instead of pursuing the courts for action, to become better negotiators," Beth Cubriel said on YNN's "Capitol Tonight."

Cubriel's comments come just one day after Cari Cristman, the executive director of the conservative Red State Women PAC, said that existing fair pay laws are sufficient and that women are too "busy" to push for more equal pay legislation.

"We lead busy lives, whether working professionally, whether working from home, and times are extremely busy. It's a busy cycle for women and we've got a lot to juggle. So when we look at this issue we think, what's practical? And we want more access to jobs. We want to be able to get a higher education degree at the same time that we're working or raising a family," Cristman told Dallas TV station WFAA.

This is exactly the kind of incident that some liberal 501 group ought to be able to cobble together into a TV ad to demonstrate just how extreme are the Tea Party Repuglicans.

There are extremist Repuglicans saying stuff like this every week, almost every day!

This is the real face of the Tea Party-Repuglican Party and it is why 2014 could be a landslide election for Democrats ... if they get brave and market this kind of stuff.

The GOP and Greg Abbott are determined to alienate female voters. Here an executive director of the Texas GOP is stupid enough to state that the reason that women are underpaid is due to the fact that they can not negotiate. Juanita Jean disagrees http://www.juanitajean.com/2014/03/18/and-its-our-fault-when-we-get-raped-too/

They find another woman who says that it’s women’s own fault if they aren’t paid equal to a man in the same job.

No, seriously. I have it on tape. It will be the most surreal 25 seconds of your day.

Do these Republicans ever talk to each other? Yesterday women were too damn busy to get equal pay but today they need to add some schooling in their busy day and feel real bad about themselves if they don’t have time to learn a new set of life skills because they were so busy yesterday.

So what Republicans are telling us is that if they are re-elected, women are totally screwed.

Okay, I’m pretty sure we already knew that but we appreciate Republicans reinforcing it.

Greg and the GOP are determined to alienate women. This latest quote is simply amazing to me
