Chick-fil-A CEO now regrets dragging the company into anti-equality morass...

Everyone can change. That's the message we're supposed to take from Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy's new humility over publicly tying his company to anti-marriage-equality efforts two years ago. He really wishes he hadn't done that.

“Every leader goes through different phases of maturity, growth and development and it helps by (recognizing) the mistakes that you make,” Cathy said. “And you learn from those mistakes. If not, you’re just a fool. I’m thankful that I lived through it and I learned a lot from it.

So does that mean he's had a change of heart, and in his new maturity has grown to accept that marriage equality is not, in fact, the doom of America? No. He just regrets saying it out loud, because money.

Luckily my local franchise sponsors the LGBTQIA group at the high school so I know the franchise owner is not up to the same crap.

Cathy's statement no longer adheres to right-wing gay-bashing orthodoxy, so they'll likely boycott him...

harm (and even kill) themselves each year in part due to the gay-hating bullshit and outright lies which Tali-born-agains insist on pushing on everyone around them, including friends and family.

Regrets all around.

It'll be interesting to see the company's internals should that come to pass.

a sponsor on PBS Kids shows, at least from what I've seen. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's related to his recent public support of discrimination against gay people, insofar as PBS can turn down sponsors if any of the sponsor, its products, or its mission is deemed unsuitable for programming related to the education of children.

There are plenty of LGBT friendly people, politicians, and corporations who came late to the party after some big revelation about how they love us now, but in reality, I'm pretty sure most of them were just afraid of losing profits and votes from our community and young people.

Never trust a corporation who tells you they love you.

"The bigots blew their wad on the anti-boycott and aren't keeping our numbers up. We still hate LGBT people, but we'll take their money because we're losing our asses."

I used to eat there semi-regularly, and I haven't bought Chick-fil-A since he opened his mouth, and I have no plans to buy it in the future.

The only good food they have are milkshakes and chicken salad sandwiches.

Too bad I only get the urge to patronize them on Sundays...
