Every one of those "FUCK YOU MR. PRESIDENT" or angry lacerations calling him some fucking piece of shit car salesman is a nail in the Democrats' collective coffin. Amazing that even some of the stuff I see HERE makes me worry.

Sigh…

EYES ON THE PRIZE, GUYS!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!! Unless you want utter bedlam and all the impeachment proceedings you can eat for the next two-and-a-half years? THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!! I can't for the life of me imagine why you'd want that. Stubborn and impractical idealism will get you ralph nader. And we all sure did benefit from THAT experience back in 2000, now didn't we?

If the Democrats don't wake up and realize the seriousness of the situation, the Republicans could take over the Senate and House. Many of these extremists are intent on bringing articles of impeachment against President Obama. They will defund the AFCA and move to privatize SS and turn Medicare into a voucher system. They will not only destroy Obama's presidency, but no program that helps the poor will be left intact. It will be open warfare on the working class funded by the billionaires.

If they succeed in impeachment it could result in a massive demonstrations that will make Watts riots look like a picnic. The polarization is so intense it could erupt into open revolt. We can thank the Supreme Court Republican justices for the situation when they declared corporations persons and destroyed the democracy. They may sitting on a pile of rubble before this over.

The long game. The ramifications we might well expect if worse does indeed come to worst. Say they do get their majorities in both houses in November. Worst-case scenario (which I hope does NOT happen, of course.) And say, soon after that, they start impeachment proceedings as so many of 'em have been openly threatening already.

I started thinking - hmmmm… maybe some of us more devious Dems should start calling republi-CON congress members and suggesting they do start impeachment proceedings.

BECAUSE… if they do, they can well expect to get about 15 or 16 votes from minorities across the country - for a generation or two. Blacks, especially, will NEVER forget that these bastards impeached, or tried to impeach, the first African-American President. They will NEVER forget that, and they will NEVER let the GOP forget that, either. And with that track record well-established, Latinos can well expect that THEY'LL be next if there's ever a Latino President. So there's a HUGE block of voters who will be permanently turned off of the GOP, and regardless what the bad guys try, they will NEVER be able to keep every last minority voter from voting. No matter what they do. They'll NEVER see the inside of the White House again, unless they're on a White House tour.

Be careful what you wish for, GOP. It WILL be the death of their party if they do this. That will be THE straw that finally breaks their backs. There will be no way on earth they can sweet-talk the necessary numbers of minority voters they'd need to win the White House if they do this. This will likely be the fatal blow many of us have been yearning to see. And it'll likely be the last time they'll enjoy majorities in either house, as well. Those who resolutely vote white-racist-sexist are older, aging fast, and WILL inevitably die out. Their numbers won't be replaced or refreshed by enough newcomers to counter-balance that trend, because their policies just stink too much for all voting blocs aside from gullible old Anglos. The demographics are changing, and changing the national mindset. And dramatically fewer Millennials are religious, either, so the religious extremist contingent will lose numbers and clout as well.

They'll think they've won a battle and they'd probably be correct. But they will guarantee their loss of the war. They will lose the Supreme Court, too.

Besides, I wonder if they realize that getting rid of President Obama doesn't automatically hand them the White House. See, there's this guy named Joe Biden who would then become President, and they won't have time to start over and try to impeach him as well. All they'd be doing is giving him the power of incumbency, and make it that much easier for HIM to stay put, too. Wonder if Hillary would consider being his running mate in such a case? Either way, it'd be a slam-dunk for our side. VERY painful in the short run. But satisfying in the long run.

And you know what happens if Joe Biden becomes President?

Well, those bastards HATE Catholics. They don't consider them Christian. And Joe Biden is Catholic.

I barely remember when JFK was elected in 1960. He was the first president I was aware of, since I was a tot.

The Southern Baptists raised hell during the campaign and made total asses of themselves asking Kennedy if the Pope was going to run the country if he was elected. They were convinced the U.S. would become a branch of Vatican City. And JFK gave the proper answer and they hated him anyway.

When I was growing up we didn't have any pictures of Jesus on the wall, but we had three pictures of John F. Kennedy on the wall. Yellow Dog Democrats, my parents and sister.

Idealism is not the same as realism. It is definitely "impractical".

Those of us who are realists have to take the lead. Otherwise we'll get another Bush/Cheney and endless war.

Every time I've heard someone say they're gonna vote for an independent or a fourth- or fifth- or sixth-party candidate, they usually say "we need to SEND a MESSAGE to… blah-blah-blah." I finally said to this one woman at a table for some Green Party candidate for governor awhile back - "ma'am, the only message you're going to send is one to congratulate the republi-CON who'll win, and steal it from the Democrat whose views were far more compatible with yours than some GOP schmuck's would EVER be!" And of course, it went straight over her head…

Ralph Nader and John Anderson come to mind. And on the CONs' side, I'm sure there are many of them who will never forgive Ross Perot for being the spoiler when Clinton won it from bush1 in 1992 and then beat Bob Dole in 1996.

UNFORTUNATELY, that's the system we have. If it's gonna change, that change is gonna take a LOT longer to get here than one might hope, seems to me. In the meantime, and I hate to say this, but we are forced to pick the good rather than the perfect. We are forced to pick the possible rather than the fantasy. We are forced to pick - yup - the lesser of two evils. But who would you rather have picking the next Supreme Court? Who would you want appointing the department heads at Interior and also at the EPA? Hell, a republic-CON would probably do away with an outfit like the EPA entirely, or have it defunded so it basically ceases to exist. 'Zat okay with everybody here? You want THEIR attorney general or OURS? You want THEIR foreign policy and national security teams - or OURS? Okay we'll probably eat it in the Treasury Secretary department regardless, since there's corporatism in both parties (only it's MUCH worse on their side than on ours). Can't win 'em all. But there's so much more to do! And what would happen to the ACA if the bad guys got the White House back? You think they'd leave that alone for one second?

It's sad but true, and nauseatingly realistic. We are stuck picking the "D" selection rather than the "R" at pretty much every turn. As a matter of fact, I can't see ANY turn in which it'd be preferable to pick an "R".

From me to you: Thanks for not letting that glorious phraseology die. It deserves to be remembered as the epitaph of a once-thoughtful poster. I don't know if I can take much more of the poison floating around here the past several days....

While there are some very legitimate gripes about the ACA, a lot of what is being shown in msm is pure fiction.
