(154,470 posts)It was a beautiful spring day...a little overcast, and then a bit of sun...
He is a genuine live wire! Very knowledgeable and knows how to get his points across.

(8,554 posts)I would sure love to sit down at a lunch with Sen. Brown. As a former Ohioan, I've followed his career for a couple of decades now and he gives me much hope for my old home state.
I am green with envy.
Thanks so much for sharing your pics!

I hadn't been sure about being allowed to take any pictures...but he said go ahead, so I felt very happy!

(37,468 posts)I'm glad he was interesting and you got to enjoy yourself ! I hope you didn't have to drive too far in that LA traffic
CaliforniaPeggy
(154,470 posts)Maybe 12 miles. And the traffic was light on the way over......much heavier on the way home. But I didn't care!
It was very cool. I normally don't move in those high-powered circles...

(154,470 posts)He IS great.
I'm sorry to hear he doesn't want to run for President.......I think he'd make a great one, someday.
Ohio needs him more, though.

(154,470 posts)I'd rather say that you're fighting back against the corrupt practices of the Republicans!
And good for you.

(35,602 posts)I know there's conflict at DU over who people want to run in a few years - but I would live it if he ran. He just "gets" things.
CaliforniaPeggy
(154,470 posts)Perhaps he sees himself as more effective in the Senate than as President.
As for being lucky....well, I was invited because I have supported his various campaigns. This was a thank-you luncheon.

CaliforniaPeggy
(154,470 posts)It was a pretty uncomplicated day. The main thing was to thank us for our past support of his campaigns.
He also talked about the upcoming Congressional elections, and what it would mean if we lost the Senate.
He urged us to not think about the Presidential elections just yet. It isn't time yet to think about that.
And there was stuff that went by pretty quickly and that I don't remember.
That's it in a nutshell.

(20,040 posts)I'm fortunate enough to call him my senator. Here in NE Ohio we're also blessed to be represented by congressman Tim Ryan, another seemingly real hero of the working class.
I hope you had the opportunity to meet his wife, Connie Schultz. She's an editorialist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and a genuine nice person without airs or pretensions. She once told the story about how her mother instructed her and her four sisters to watch how a prospective boyfriend treats a waiter or waitress. She advised that the true worth of a man is how he treats someone he's socially allowed to abuse. She assured that Sherrod fit the bill, and love spawned eternal.
I took this image when he was running for re-election about 18 months ago as he donned the hat of a young supporter. He then turned to me and jokingly asked that I wait until after the election to post it:
CaliforniaPeggy
(154,470 posts)Alas, she was someplace else today. I've read her writing and she's excellent.
I LOVE your story! That's a great picture too. It sound just like him!
I'm glad Ohio has him for its senior senator--you all need him so much.
