Paris (AFP) - French voters went to the polls on Sunday in the first round of local elections set to represent a landmark for women in politics and, possibly, for the far-right National Front.
...polls have suggested around one in four voters are considering casting their votes for Marine Le Pen's National Front (FN), setting the scene for what could be a breakthrough election for the anti-immigration, anti-EU party led by the daughter of its founder Jean-Marie Le Pen.

No word yet on how neo-cons in the Obama administration rigged this fascist surge in France... but what other explanation could there be?

(39,282 posts)might as well see what they do if they get into power." Pretty disturbing from a place that should have the historical memory to know better than to roll the dice with extremism. It was just a few people, but none of them had ever voted for a LePen and were willing to give it a try.

(6,057 posts)Are you making this ridiculous comparison intentionally, or are you just displaying your ignorance for public display? Nothing in the article makes that bizarre claim...... it's all your dishonest attempt to propagandize.
Le Pen's National Front (FN) has no love for the Russian Federation or their actions in Crimea. In fact, the FN has more in common with Svoboda and the Right Sector in Ukraine. These groups share common racist, anti-Semitic, xenophobic, and ultra-nationalist views.
But nice try!

(42,239 posts)France's far-right National Front party has made significant gains in local elections, winning an outright majority in one town on the first round.
The party is in first place in some other towns it is targeting, according to projections.
President Francois Hollande's Socialists have lost ground overall and may lose control of some major towns.
The vote is seen as a key test for the Socialists, deeply unpopular after nearly two years in power.

The allusion should be with Ukraine : not Russia.
