School says girl not welcome because she's "not feminine enough"

The family of Sunnie Kahle, an 8-year-old from Timberlake, Virginia, recently received a letter from her school, Timberlake Christian School (TCS), in which the principal informed them that, “TCS is not the best place for (Sunnie’s) future education,” because her dress and behavior were not feminine enough.

As reported by WSET 13 News, the letter emphasized that Sunnie, who sports jeans, sneakers and a short hair cut, could be denied continued enrollment in the school. According to the TCS guidelines, enrollment at the bible-based institution could be refused to students who live in, condone, or support “sexual immorality; practicing homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity; promoting such practices; or otherwise having the inability to support the moral principles of the school.” The letter cited Bible verses, which they say are the basis of TCP’s principles.

Additionally the principal wrote, "We believe that unless Sunnie as well as her family clearly understand that God has made her female and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity, that TCS is not the best place for her future education."

Of course, if she's ever said she's a boy in a girl's body, the last place she needs to be is around a bunch of constipated pseudo-Christians.

and wears her hair short. You would think the gossip columnists needed her in a dress or they would die. Her parents said they let her be herself. Screw this school.

that frilly dresses and fun were mutually exclusive. I'm sure these priss pots would have been aghast at me in my jeans having mud clod fights with the other kids in the neighborhood.

I had to wear the stupid dresses to school. At home, I wore hand me downs from boys.

wore dresses, and I have had a variety of hairstyles, both long and short. I can wear a pair of heels like nobody's business.

That certainly dictated my sexuality, didn't it?

Even better, you tight thing. I am not big and bountiful, I'm kind of like those small biscuits that get overlooked because they aren't as eye-catching, but are more nutritional and with some gravy on them tastes like heaven come to earth!

It seems an abnormal concentration upon sexual characteristics of a pre-pubescent minor. Since she is below the age of consent, shouldn't this kind of scrutiny be a form of sexual molestation?

It's not the best school for Sunnie's future education.

It's not the best school for ANY child's future education!

It should be closed down.

And what is meant by 'counselled professionally regarding identity and image in order to steer her in a particular direction to handle these identity issues'? This sounds very worrying!

Even 100 years ago, EIGHT-YEAR-OLD girls were frequently permitted to be 'tomboys', even if they were pressured to become 'nice young ladies' in adolescence. This school sounds truly extremist.
