Hmm..what to say ? Very southern (duh), people very friendly (to me anyway fwiw) but very conservative. They seem to really love their football. I've only driven through Mobile and was in Auburn for a while to see a friend.

That sounds as disgusting as South Carolina's mustard-based sauce.
The south has some great beaches and the north is in the foothills of the Appalachians. I think the north is very scenic, but I'm more partial to mountains than the beaches. There are some very nice little towns throughout the state.
The people are friendly in Alabama, but I'll give you one piece of advice about them. If you're just meeting them, don't bring up football. Football is the state religion in Alabama, and they have some strong opinions about it. If they ask you if you're an Alabama fan or an Auburn fan, just say that you don't know anything about either team, because if you pick the wrong team, you've made an enemy for life.
not Alabama's fault that Bush* saddled them with corrupt right-wing ADAs who were out to get him. 
both the Institute and the Airmen are milestones in African American history.
