4. Well, there's some good news for you

I read last night that Obama is going to give folks like you, who have started the sign up process but are having problems, some extra time on the deadline. So, March 31 isn't going to be your drop dead date since you are already in the system and having trouble.

Whew! Big sigh of relief for you.

Because I already have my ACA plan, I can't test the site for you.

I'd recommend taking today off the issue and then calling the 800 number if you are still having trouble in the morning.

I could just be that the website is being overwhelmed by others like you who just can't get their process finished because of issues.

I changed browsers and reconfigured to allow cookies and I'm in. Still may have to call to get some help figuring out all the ins and outs of all of these plans

7. Try HealthSherpa.com for shopping for plans (but don't buy there because won't get subsidy)

More on that at http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024724967#post32

in case you're still having problems accessing healthcare.gov

You've probably seen the post already in your "My Posts", but in case someone else who might be reading this is having trouble accessing healthcare.gov to look at plans.

Also, some stuff in that post about bronze vs. silver.

8. Why did you wait so long? Try to long on again then take a screen capture

if you can't. The President extended your sign up time until mid April if you can show that you tried to sign up before the deadline and couldn't. The site goes down for periodic maintenance and to get more capacity added. The site is hosting a million plus people per day as people who waited months rush to sign up. The site was fixed December 1st, December was the time to sign up, or the months of January, February and the early part of this month.

ashling didn't "wait" to sign up. He's been trying to for months but ran into some pretty horrible problems and has been diligently trying to correct them.

He's getting there and making progress. We're trying to help as much as we can to get him and his wife signed up.

Even big problems can either be turned into simple events or be allowed to blow out of proportion. Maybe I am a control freak, but what I have learned is that it's better to pull on every lever earlier rather than later.

it explains it very clearly.

Here's the link to my post on the day I figured out what was going on in Georgia:

That's the day I got my daughter enrolled in ACA.

go ahead and do it. For many people it's the biggest purchase they ever made other than a house and vehicle, and the huge array of plans that one encounters in some areas and the difficulty of navigating health insurers websites to figure out the details and the network is time consuming. For some it has serious tax implications, but I don't have time to explain that to you.

Anyway, I don't think berating your fellow progressives for running into difficulties -- or just plain waiting too late to start -- is either productive or progressive. Thank you.

Don't be too hard on him, I'm sure he's never suffered for pretty sever fibromyalgia, spinal chord problems and chronic depression all at the same time.

10. The site is getting a million plus hits per day. That is enormous for
Wed Mar 26, 2014, 10:31 PM

a government site. Sites like Amazon, Google and Facebook get more hits, but the companies have build massive capacity across the country and have billion of dollars to build that capacity, the ACA has a few million dollars.

I don't get people that wait until the last minute to do something that is important to them, that never ends well, IMO, difficult to solve problems almost always crop up.

and, I seriously suspect many of those other "millions" are products of the same problems ashling is having.

I'll give you a personal example. I signed up back in January - me and my 18 yr old daughter. Because my daughter is working part time and going to college, her income qualified her for Medicaid. We couldn't GET her on ACA until the state of Georgia sent us a letter that she didn't qualify because our right wing asshole Governor declined expanded Medicaid.

At any rate, at the beginning of the month, I figured out that the State is avidly working to KEEP folks like my daughter off the ACA rolls and delaying that denial letter we needed. Hell, they passed a LAW last week ordering every state employee to do just that.

So, in defiance of the state of GA, I went on ACA, lied about my daughter's income and got her enrolled on ACA. There's no danger in doing so and she was not going to spend another year uninsured just because we live in a republican controlled state.

But, these kinds of games are going on everywhere in red states.

I didn't wait. I was forced to abide by the "rules" set down by the Supreme Court, my state government and ACA.

I guarantee you, lots of folks are in my shoes tonight desperately trying to insure their families.

and I got myself signed up for ACA easily and quickly.

My daughter, on the other hand, was a completely different story.
