why aren't there any government agencies (Fed/ State/ County) running health facilities that anyone

could go to?

I mean many governments underwrite agencies that operate buses/trains/airports etc ....So what prevents them having agencies that manage their own clinics and hospitals? I know its unpopular among republicans - but is it illegal for the Government to provide these services?

Imagine the effect of such institutions on price of medical services..

Suffolk County Department of Health Services operates eight family health centers, and is affiliated with two family health centers, strategically located throughout Suffolk County.

nursing homes for veterans. State run colleges often have a hospital that is both for general use and for teaching purposes. The military has its own hospitals across the world near bases. These are the ones I can think of.

I wish the government would have medical bases where EVERYTHING is free. Make it as big as a college campus, and have almost everything you can think of. I would go to them if I needed too. One or 2 for every state, with discount travel. Hire vets who need jobs to run the place.
