Bill Maher: Tells Democrats To "Stand Your Ground" On Obamacare

Now last week in this space, I congratulated Democrats for finally learning how to use the right words to sell their ideas. This week, I'm going to ask for something in return — that they actually own those ideas. Stand your ground. when a Tea Partier says Obamacare is a government takeover, say, "I wish!" Because that would mean Medicare for all! (audience cheering and applause)

I'm so sick of him being labeled the worst - he was and is amazing in his diplomatic skills. Now the candidates have to be skilled at raising money.

not having have Carter's back in the 1980 election. IT IS WHY HE LOST TO REAGAN. They were embarrassed by him because he wasn't one of "them." He eschewed the Washington cocktail parties and the rest of D.C.'s back-room, handshake deal-making and went directly to the American people. D.C. resented the hell out of that and that's why the Democratic Party establishment didn't have his back in 1980 and it's how we wound up with Reagan. Revisionist histories love to blame the "Reagan Democrats" and the Boomers for Reagan when it was actually the Democratic Party who did NOTHING to counter the right-wing memes back then, including and especially demonizing the word "liberal."

Are you a Democrat? Yes or No?

You can be an activist every single day of the week, if you so choose: phone-banking, canvassing, tabling. All under the auspices of various local Democratic parties. And if your county parties don't seem to be effective, you can work within them, take over, and be more effective.

There is no THEY. There is only YOU.

the Carters have done since Jimmy left office. Too busy building houses to sit around and paint mediocre pictures. And grandson running for Governor in Georgia....YES!

Good rant by Maher.

He made peace in the Middle East! He was ahead of his time environmentally and actually walked the walk, not just talked the talk. The great works and activism that he and Rosalyn have done in the decades since are unmatched by any President and First Lady.
The more the Republicans bring up their hero Reagan, the more we prove just how racist, corrupt, greedy, and inept he actually was. His stock continues to fall.
