The only way for this to get any traction would be for the media to get on board with the name and use is often.

Republican control of the language of discourse (due to Democratic vacuum in that area) made "entitlements" a dirty word by applying it as a pejorative for help for the poor, elderly, disabled and veterans. (They love troops, hate vets.)

Don't buy it.

There needs to be a different pejorative so that Democrats can stop ceding language and framing to Republicans.

There is no way in hell that 1% is entitled to yachts.

Call it "waste, fraud, and abuse". That is a Republican catch-phrase to turn on its head.

It is waste, a fraud, and abusive to let the 1% have their yacht tax breaks. (Yachts being just one of many examples.)

SS and Medicare are earned 'entitlements' that we all pay for. The rich have done approximately zero to earn theirs.

We not only pay for our own so-called "entitlements", we pay for theirs too! Someone pays the taxes they don't have to: the rest of us. Or, we end up with fewer needed services because they money's not there (services THEY will never need).

That makes THEM the "moochers".

Is what I call it. And it adds up to far more than food stamps and unemployment insurance and housing assistance combined.

To earn it and be entitled to it.

I agree that it's welfare for the rich, though.
