Popularity For Obamacare Hits All-Time High In Latest ABC/Washington Post Poll

The good news keeps pouring in for supporters of the Affordable Care Act. Heading into the final day to signup for an individual health plan in the federal and state marketplaces, a new poll was released by ABC News and the Washington Post that shows the popularity for the ACA at an all-time high. For the first time in the poll’s history, more people have a favorable view of the health care law than those who oppose it.

In this most recent poll, 49% of Americans responded that they supported the ACA. Meanwhile, 48% said they were not in favor of the law. While this is hardly a huge difference, it does mark the first time that the poll has shown a net positive for the law in terms of popularity. Once before, in July 2012, the poll showed it even at 47-47. This also represented the overall high water mark for the law in this particular poll. The previous high was 48% in November 2009.

After the much-criticized and overblown ‘disastrous rollout’ of the federal health exchange and its website, Healthcare.gov, in October 2013, the ACA showed a net negative of 17 points in this poll, 40-57. Now, it sits at a +1. Recently, a Kaiser poll, while showing a net negative in terms of popularity, revealed that 59% of Americans do not support a repeal of the law, with only 29% supporting such a move. Also, the same poll stated that 53% of people want politicians to stop debating the law and move onto something else.

Yes, this is only one poll. And, obviously, Republicans will be able to point to some other recent poll showing the ACA is unpopular. However, given the context of the tidal wave of good news surrounding these final days of the ACA’s first open enrollment period, you have to think that this poll is like a kick in the gut for conservatives who have placed all of their eggs in the ‘Obamacare is bad’ basket. With enrollment likely to surge past 7 million by the end of the day on Monday, and Medicaid expansion and other provisions of the law having helped millions of other previously uninsured people get health coverage for the first time, Republicans once again find themselves on the wrong side of history.

This is a Disney/ABC/Right Wing Washington Post poll and Mr. Obama is on the positive side. Say it ain't so,something wrong here. Watch the talking heads in the so called Librual Media go totally nuts. Caught a brief segment on the Bloomberg this AM,talk about full court negative spin. They had some Rethug from some Red State bitching about how much more the premiums are. Duh,when you make a Million a year, yah,it is income based stupid.

Talk about being a Government roll out being a success, and the Rethugs want to repeal ACA, give me a break.

the more those numbers are going to go up. the economy isn't going to collapse and the ground is not going to open up and swallow us all whole in God's fury over a health care bill.

the democrats need to get on board with this NOW. STOP avoiding the topic! Make it the HALLMARK of your campaigns in november and this business of us losing the senate is gonig to vanish

That's the problem, IMO. Democratic candidates should be SCREAMING that they support Obamacare/ACA because it lets parents keep kids on insurance 'till they're 26, eliminates pre-existing condition exclusions, eliminates the death sentence of the lifetime cap, provides affordable health insurance for millions of Americans who didn't have it, etc. etc. etc. etc..... But they're fucking running from it and hiding. Faux news and their bullies have once again made us afraid of who we are.

24. Gerrymandering will cancel out much of the good will of Obamacare

We ain't surfing here in Ohio and whille you rightly think we should be, the expected results of our selection of members of the US House of representatives in 2014 is 12 Republicans and 4 Democrats even though the votes cast for each major party is expected to be about equal or even a little more for Democrats. Gerrymandering is a foot on the neck of people in Ohio preventing us from fighting back at the polls when our so called representatives, who only have to represent big money donors, including corporations and the Koch brothers, levy more and more burdens on us. You read about the restriction of access to voting but that pales in comparison to the structural attack on democracy that has been waged successfully already with Republican Gerrymandering.
This is Democratic Underground, a place where Democrats discuss issues related to the benefit of our Nation and the Democratic party. It looks like there should be approximately 4 more democratic seats gained in the absence of Gerrymandering and that indicates the Democratic Party should put some effort into getting rid of Gerrymandering here in Ohio. But so far nothing. It is up to democrats with a small d, the populist wing of our current political party to get behind this and work for democracy and fair representation. Not only will it help us in Ohio but it would bring tremendous blessings to the people of the entire country if we reduced the influence of the one percent and their wacko representatives.
By identifying the support to end Gerrymandering , we can extend our efforts to develop grass roots organizations across Ohio and aided by many across the Nation. We urgently need you to pledge to work with us to eliminate Gerrymandering in Ohio for the good of Ohio and America. You can help if you want to , no matter your circumstances or your location. Please go to MoveOn.org and pledge your help. The link is http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/gerrymandering-in-ohio?mailing_id=21176&source=s.icn.em.cr&r_by=2219225 .
Benjamin Franklin said that they (the Founding Fathers) gave us a democracy but it was up to us to keep it. We have lost much of that democracy in Ohio, stand up with us to get much of it back. Please pledge to help us and the country.

Same group also suffered from Birtherism, Climate Denierism, Benghazism, IRSism and Voter Fraudism. A common link has now been found for this seemingly chronic illnesses. Fox Newism has been found in each of these debilitating illnesses. There is no known cure for this Ebola like sickness that ravishes the mind.
