I don't receive emails from the ADL so I didn't read what they actually said. I agree that it's a very bad time to attack the ADL, or to use the incident to score political points about the Israel/Palestine situation, as some insensitive assholes on Facebook have been doing.

I have a FB friend in Kansas City whose wife works at the JCC. He said the guy appears deranged and suspects mental illness. All anyone knows at this point is that the shooter in his seventies. He could have spent his entire life hating Jews, or it could be have been something unrelated that pushed him over the edge.

Not that I think antisemites or bigots of any kind qualify as remotely sane, and the same goes for radical Christian fundamentalists. But I'm going to suspend judgment as to what kind of a crazy he is until more is known about him.
