http://designtaxi.com/news/365215/Powerful-Ad-Asks-What-If-Your-Loved-Ones-Were-Homeless-On-The-Street/

From the link -

If you’ve ever walked past a homeless person begging on the street and pretended not to see them, this powerful ad for the New York City Rescue Mission will make you think twice about your actions.
snip
Brilliantly conceived and executed, the ad reminds us that it could be anyone’s loved ones who are on the streets, and that the homeless people we walk past everyday are human beings who deserve dignity and respect too.

2. Good message, bad psychology

If the brain is predispositioned to know that a loved one isn't homeless, it likely isn't going to connect the face that quickly.

3. Exactly so. Why is it surprising that people don't recognize someone they know when they are,

in essence, disguised?

5. I think the point was that most of us are so predisposed to ignoring the homeless

that we wouldn't even recognize our own loved ones if they became homeless.

I am sure their are plenty of people that have simply lost touch with loved ones that they never even knew became homeless.

And the meaning of the video was that the homeless are people too and deserve to be cared about and helped.

4. I passed a guy on the street who was trying

to sleep. I was once an alcoholic and asked myself what I would want if I was laying there on a nice suuny day. I would want to be left alone. His eyes were open in annoyance at all the pedestrians walking by. So I let him sleep. Poor guy, there were police all over that neighbourhood today as people of armenian descent had been demonstrating. I'm sure he he didn't get much sleep in the end.
