It was suggested I post this as an OP. I have not been following bundy caper & then I saw this.
and this:
This week, more than 50 elected officials from nine Western states met on April 18 at the Utah Capitol for an ALEC-backed conference called the "Legislative Summit on the Transfer for Public Lands," where they plotted to have federal land gifted to the states (and then to the Kochs, one HAS to assume.) A shadowy group called the American Lands Council led by Koch-bribed puppet Ken Ivory has been pushing this insidious plan for some time.

(39,215 posts)it made me wonder. I thought with the snip it made sense. Yeah, let the states take the federal land. Soooooo much easier to manipulate the state legislature via ALEX.

(34,661 posts)Mentioned the Salt Lake City gathering of like minded Mormon Krotch funded Politicos earlier in the week. Amazing how the Industrialist use us as pawns in their game of theft. With the help of their News Media ownership,it is very easy to conquer the ignorant and low information voter, and turn them against the rest of society. Remember this;Politics 101,for the most part, there are only 10% of the people on either side of an issue, the magic is to convince the one unit of 10% that you have the right solution to their issue.
And so it goes.

Seattleland: Washington State Rep Matt Shea Plays Patriot Games

From article, describing part if Shea's speech while there:
In a speech on land near the center of the dispute, Republican Rep. Matt Shea called for federal land to be transferred to the states. A coalition of legislators from Western states was forming to stand up for Cliven Bundy and others in the fight against overbearing federal rules, he said.

Utah House Speaker Becky Lockhart, R-Provo, was flanked by a dozen participants, including her counterparts from Idaho and Montana, during a press conference after the daylong closed-door summit. U.S. Sen. Mike Lee addressed the group over lunch, Ivory said. New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, Oregon and Washington also were represented.
Ken Ivory is known to be an ALEC member: Rep. Ken Ivory (R-47), ALEC International Relations Task Force Member
Didn't see Fielder, but Becky is in the club: Speaker Rebecca Lockhart (R-64), ALEC Energy, Environment and Agriculture Task Force Member
Pretty strong tie right there.

(46,698 posts)I was once pulled into a private meeting because of my research skills. No one had bothered to vet my politics out, but that meeting was a defining moment for me. A lawyer/developer who had a history of challenging "guv'mint" rules hosted the meeting. He explained that he needed people to research newspapers to look for the ordinary homeowners who were trying to ward off government regulation. He specifically mentioned homeowners who were trying to develop their properties, but couldn't do it because of wetland restrictions.
It didn't take a genius to figure out why he wanted to take these cases pro bono. He was going to get something out of it since he belonged to an organization that was very actively infiltrating government circles, not just through social networking, but also through courtroom lawsuits. If he could win cases for the little guy, those cases would set precedent for him when he tried to develop commercial or residential communities.
Some of the most convoluted legal reasoning I would hear over the course of several years, would come from members of that organization. More than one, was a judge. It is knowledge of these kind of relationships that discourages me from seeking legal recourse through courts. Of course, that is assuming I had the money to bring in an outside attorney, which I don't have.
Good post, and welcome to DU.

(22,651 posts)was a mistake for the President to trust his advice, in the position he gave him. The presidents pretty much a greenhorn as far as cattle grazing goes, he doesn't have much experience in environmental issues. He probably took Salazars advice at face value.
Salazar is a cattle rancher with strong ties to oil and gas. He sold out on our public lands, and the wildlife that lived there too. I was really happy when he, all of a sudden,' had to quit.' I think he joined up right away as a lobbyist? for oil and gas. His replacement doesn't seem much better as a steward of our pubic lands & wildlife, but perhaps she will use science and real experts in the permitting process.

We will be without any redress from their pollution and the prices their monopoly will allow them to charge for the necessities.
This must be considered in this year's elections, as they will target anyone who isn't part of ALEC to get their way.
It's the most brazen theft ever, much more pervasive, while people fight over whatever the media tells them to do.
Excellent graphic!
I hope the masses aren't too far gone to get the message.

(1,587 posts)Thanks for the revealing post that explains why the right wing media and other bought and paid for Koch politicians were so quick to try to make a hero of that racist deadbeat from Nevada. In a strange way it took Bundy to so vividly expose the insidious aims of The Fox political party of millionaire hypocrites and Republican extreme representatives.
socialist_n_TN
(11,481 posts)on the fascist attack dogs in the form of the "militias" in the recent BLM/Bundy standoff. A segment of the big bourgeoisie, namely the Kochs and their allies, have ulterior, economic motives worth BILLIONS in profits to themselves. Since they have a large influence on government, the government is treading softly on the issue.
As an aside, the owners have historically been reluctant to play the "fascist" card since it meant they have to give up some power to the "loose cannons" of the fascists. However it looks like there might be a change in strategy, at least by a part of the bourgeoisie. This standoff is similar to Ukraine in that a SEGMENT of the bourgeoisie is willing to use the fascists to get their way more as a first resort than as a last.
